August Round Up

How is August over already?? 😫

Suicide Prevention

Jasmine, from Jasmine Gardner, asked if I would like to write another guest post for her blog, which I’m always happy to do. She asked if I could write about suicide prevention. I’m not going to lie, I was hesitant at first as I’d never spoken about this before.

I experienced a whirlwind of emotions writing this as I looked back at the times I experienced suicide ideation. It’s no surprise that there were a lot of tears shed writing about my experience but in a way I’mo glad I wrote about it as I realised I never had the chance to accept it and move forward.

Please do not read this if it may cause you distress, but if you would like to read my guest post, there here it is, Suicide Prevention – My Experience & Tips On How To Raise Awareness

A Beautiful Dream

This was honestly the most beautiful dream I’d ever had, not beautiful as in pretty beautiful, but it was complete happiness

It was our wedding day, and everything went in slow motion. I was in my wheelchair, behind the doors to the ceremony room and told those who were assisting me to walk to go and wait inside so I could be left alone.

I wasn’t upset or bracing myself. But it’s what happened next which not only confused the hell out of me, but completely shocked me…

When the doors opened, I stood up from my wheelchair and began walking slowly.

By myself.

Each step i took, the more emotional we all got.

I walked from the doors to the sea next to Ewan…

Then my sisters phone rang, it was our Grandad George, he passed away nearly 16 years ago…i can’t remember what he said but he was in my dream, on the phone to my sister.

When i woke up, i burst into tears, i felt confused, emotional and overwhelmed. I know that all of our family that has passed, will be there in spirit on the day.

The Reality of…

Ashlyn raises awareness in The Reality of Depression, Anxiety & Agoraphobia

“My anxiety has many faces… it ranges from butterflies, to catatonia. When it’s really really bad I can’t talk, and I can’t move.” – Ashlyn

Travel Fair – Campaign With Scope

I was asked to get involved with not only an upcoming campaign for Scope but to also be “the face” of their next fundraising appeal! Remember the photoshoot I mentioned last month? Well, this is what it was for!

For the fundraising appeal, I had the chance to share my story and how much being part of Scope’s Online Community has made a huge difference to my life. This means Scope’ supporters and donors will receive newsletters/leaflets/etc and i will be in them!

The campaign, Travel Fair, aims to make transport companies aware that there is still a long way to go to achieve fairness when disabled people are using their services.

I was able to share my experiences when using the bus and train. Majority of the feedback was really positive, other people were sharing their experiences and were able to empathise. However, there were a few comments that were not exactly positive. Equality shouldn’t be a controversial topic!

Jill & M Came To Stay

My sister and nephew came to stay for the weekend again and bought our wedding decorations in tow! Can’t wait to show you them all!

For Now…

A few weeks ago, it came to light through the WordPrress community that a website,, was using bloggers content, without their permission, on their site, including mine. claims to be a search engine for blogs, which in a way, it is exactly that. However, they weren’t just showing excerpts, they were showing the entire post!

Thankfully, their website is temporarily down, but it’s been like that for about a fortnight now. One thing I learned from this was how strong the WordPress community is when we stand together!

Am I Smiling Yet?

A couple of weeks ago, I finally got my new dentures. All of my life, I’ve hated smiling due to being conscious of my teeth. It’s a long story, one which I will go into more detail in another post.

You would think that having a new perfect set of teeth would be just that…but it’s not. Theres more to it.

To me, wearing these dentures have changed the shape of my face so I look different. Because I’m getting used to wearing them, I’ve got a lisp.

And, honestly…

It’s made me so much more conscious now. So I’m really struggling with adapting to them. I just hope I overcome this lisp before the wedding…

Change Of Plan

Due to high levels of anxiety, which has not been caused by the wedding approaching, and the unpredictable tardiness of others, I have decided to cancel the hen do. It wasn’t an easy decision to make but cancelling it has definitely eased my anxiety.

A Sad Moment

Last week I had a sudden realisation. I no longer needed to buy any wedding bits and bobs from online. It kind of dawned on me that the wedding planning is close enough to finished and it actually made me really sad as I have enjoyed spending hours looking online for unique superhero items for our wedding.

Thank you Etsy, eBay, Amazon and a few other websites! You’ve all been my saving grace this past year!
